Growing up, my mom always told me there should be one black piece of design in every room. Thumbing through a few photos from the New York Tabletop Market, I noticed something: black & white everywhere. And have you seen the South African collection currently at West Elm?! My most recent Anthropologie catalog used the phrase " timeless and modern" to describe a black and white dress. The combination acts as a neutral—it goes with everything—but still serves a real statement and can be matched up with just about any color! Pattern trends come and go, but the B&W combo is classic.
