I know this seems so simple, but this is truly one of the BEST ways to prepare asparagus. The asparagus has been raining down from heaven like manna this year. My mom goes to bed at night and wakes up to 40 more feet of asparagus in her garden. This means we have eaten our fair share this spring, and this is my favorite way to prepare it. It is also one of those dishes that tastes like something from a favorite restaurant where you sit and ponder what flavors go into making it so darn good. My kids eat their weight in this.
- 1 bunch of asparagus, trimmed
- 1 T. soy sauce
- 1 T. oil of choice (coconut, red palm, olive, & sesame are all great options)
- 1 T. sugar
- a few garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tsp. vinegar
- sesame seeds
Mix soy sauce, oil and sugar. Heat a big skillet and add sauce mix. Once hot, throw in garlic and asparagus. Sauté for several minutes. Add vinegar...Cook a little longer. Place on serving platter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
