Light, white, and flowy are the words describing my clothing selection lately. With temperatures in the triple digits for many, many days, it only makes sense that the wardrobe accommodate. Before our move to Texas, date nights were pretty regular, even if it meant throwing a blanket on the floor after the kids went to bed with take-out, a glass of wine and a few candles.
Post-move there has been much adjustment, extra hugs at night for my Missouri-missing kiddos, and not many babysitters in the repertoire. A few nights ago the opportunity arose for a date. On the town. Just me and him. Oh, I went all out getting ready. It was momentous. Where are we going? and What am I wearing? My daughters watched and learned as I blow-dryed, glossed, smoothed, sprayed, and primped my way out the door.
I put together this inspiration board of two colors I am loving in these late summer days & nights and perfect for a warm night with a significant other. It's an antique color palette with a modern aesthetic. We decided on a delicious French restaurant, Justine's, where we sat on the beautiful, breezy patio in East Austin as the sun went down. Plates of escargot in melted butter (the best state-side we've ever had!), salad with lump crab & mint, duck for me, scallops + chorizo + a Kronenbourg 1664 draught for him, and gazing into each other's eyes sans three little blondes. Even though we couldn't wait to get back home to those little blondes snuggled into their beds, we'll definitely be doing this more often.
